You – The Recreation

Manchester four-piece The Recreation released their debut single You, in January 2016.

The indie rock band originally formed in 2013, but the current lineup have been playing together since August 2014, and they’re finally showing us some of their material!

The opening to the track is very upbeat and catchy, and where the vocals come in you can clearly hear the Manchester twang in the voice.

Having sent the band over some questions before reviewing, I discovered they’re far more rhythmically driven by members George and Sam on drums and bass, rather than just your usual catchy guitar riffs (although they’re of course still in there), and this is fundamentally heard throughout.

Right now, the lads are in the studio recording a brand new single named Sofa, telling me it has ‘a sick main riff and a mega chorus’…they can’t wait for everyone to hear it.

On 10th September 2016 they’ll be playing a gig at AATMA in Manchester – you can buy tickets here!

Influenced predominantly by classic, noughties, indie rock, and having been compared to the likes of The Strokes and The Kooks, this fresh, new indie band are certainly beginning to make a name for themselves.
