Staffordshire folk singer, Callum Kerrigan released his debut EP Giving Up in 2016.

“I write the grooviest tunes Rugeley has ever heard.”

With influences including The Kooks, The Wombats and Ben Howard, Callum started learning Guitar at 15 – singing alongside – which led him to start busking, and writing his own music.

The EP consists of 4 tracks, Alcohol, Fortress, Giving Up and Eyes.

Alcohol has a slow, chilled out vibe, with some beautifully chilling guitar, underpinned by spectacular, distinctive vocals. A fantastic opening to the EP, and a great introduction to the artist.

Fortress takes on a slightly more upbeat approach. Influenced by, and reminding me largely of material on Kooks debut Inside In, Inside Out, fans of the noughties indie scene are gonna love this!

Giving Up and Eyes are equally as impressive as their predecessors. Giving Up certainly isn’t one to listen to if you want your mood lifted, but nonetheless is performed to a tee. Eyes is clearly the love song of the EP, with beautifully written lyrics, a catchy beat and flawless vocals to go with it.

The EP is available for free download here.

I love this EP, especially for a chilled out day, and I cannot wait to hear more material from Callum Kerrigan!
