Manchester band CORELLA have recently released their debut single Waterfall.
The four-piece consists of members Joel Smith (Vocals/Guitar), Ben Henderson (Vocals/Bass Guitar), Jack Taylor (Guitar) and James Fawcett (Drums); they formed in 2015, after meeting at university.
“We all had the same intentions of finding musicians with similar interests and starting a band so it felt right from day one.”
They play original music with elements of soul, funk, pop and rock… describing their sound as “Funky guitar riffs, hard hitting bass, and drums with soulful vocals.”. The band also have a wide range of influences, from Bombay Bicycle Club, The Beatles, and Foals, to Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, and The Rolling Stones.
The bands debut single, Waterfall has a really chilled out, positive vibe to it, with jangly guitars, echoing vocals (which may I add, work excellently), and an energetic beat, it’s the ideal tune for summer! A belter of a debut single which only shows a snippet of the potential this band have.
Once the band return to Manchester they plan to be gigging regularly, and even have a headline show coming up on October 11th at Joshua Brooks! Corella are also in the process of recording and writing their debut EP, and will be straight back in the studio this September to record their next single.
