It’s now just one week until surf and music festival Boardmasters returns to the Cornish coastline for yet another year, and the lineup is looking insane!

I figured I would talk about some of the acts I particularly don’t want to miss, and recommend tracks to check out if you’ve not already!

Catfish & The Bottlemen

Catfish and the Bottlemen are an ideal festival band. They have numerous indie anthems you can sing along to, know exactly how to get a crowd going, and have played the likes of Glastonbury, T in the Park and Truck Festival so far this year. Next Friday the band will be playing the main stage at Boardmasters… and trust me, you won’t want to miss it!

You can expect a set of up-beat, feel good tunes from both their debut and second album, with perhaps one or two to slow the evening down for just a few minutes. Not forgetting of course, hearing Bondy’s guitar solo’s up close is sure to be a spiritual experience. I can’t wait.

Kaiser Chiefs

Unless you’ve lived under a rock your whole life, you’ll be sure to have at least heard some of this bands tracks. With tracks Ruby and I Predict A Riot being some of their best known hits. Having seen them live two years ago, I’m pretty hyped at the thought of seeing them perform again on the Saturday of the festival. Lead singer Ricky Wilson knows exactly how to get the crowd going, and they’re an ideal act to see perform on the middle day of your weekend with a variety of bangers to start your night off properly before headliners Deadmau5.

Wolf Alice

Wolf Alice are an alternative rock band, who released their debut album back in 2015 and now have an ever-growing amount of listeners. The four-piece will be headlining the Land of Saints Stage on Friday, and after missing their set at Reading Festival last year, I can’t wait to see these for a first time!

If seeing Ellie Rowsell in the flesh isn’t enough reason to want to go and see Wolf Alice, some of their top tracks will hopefully change your mind. Get your glitter at the ready!

  • Moaning Lisa Smile
  • Bros
  • Giant Peach
  • Nosedive

Rat Boy

The general consensus I’ve got so far are that people have mixed opinions on seeing Rat Boy. But once again, many of his tunes are certain to get a crowd going and the buzz for him is only getting bigger. After the release of his first single Sign On in 2015, hype built up quickly and Rat Boy found himself on on BBCs sound of 2016 longlist, and MTVs Shortlist, alongside winning an award from NME. Not too shabby I would say!

If you have the opportunity over the weekend, Rat Boy can be found on the Land of Saints Stage at some point on the Sunday.

Sigma (Live)

Perhaps you fancy seeing something a bit different to the music suggested so far? Sigma are an English drum n bass duo, who have produced numerous hits with huge artists! If you’re looking for more of a set to jump around to, with well known songs throughout they can be found headlining the Unleashed stage on the Sunday.

Timings were released earlier today, so if you want to properly plan out your weekend, check it out here.

There are of course many other acts whom I will be seeing over the course of the weekend, and this is just a snippet of those I would recommend if you have the chance. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the weekend!
